We lost our amazing purebred Hackney Horse mom, Gypsy on Wednesday, June 11. There are about 150 Hackney Horses left in the US. She left behind two amazing babies: Willow Grove Kaleidoscope, now 6, and her month-old foal, Willow Grove Kopernicus.
I have been working with Hackney Horses since 2008 in an attempt to, quite literally, help them survive. I don't get paid extra or earn any special money or favors. I don't have a bunch of friends all doing it. It's not popular. It's not cool. It's simply because I want to do good in the world. That's it.
Now my 1 Hackney broodmare has left us.
All I can do now is take Willow Grove Kaleidoscope (Lida Rose) out and show the world what Hackneys can do.
I can raise Willow Grove Kopernicus (Kappy) with the best care and nutrition so he has every chance to follow in his sister's footsteps.
But it is costing a lot to try and do those things.
What I propose is offering a clinic here at Willow Grove to help YOU with something YOU want help with. Then I can earn the money to take Lida Rose to Inavale this year and buy Kappy the best nutrition to raise him
If you know me, you know I have devoted my professional life to learning and teaching in horse-healthy and horse respectful ways. I have done so for decades, earning regional and national titles in multiple events with horses who had intense troubles. Horses can do just about anything if they have a healthy and clear curriculum to base it on. That’s what I offer to you.
I can work with you on:
Founational groundwork, troubled horses (contact/bit issues, reactivity, lack of confidence, fear issues etc), learning lateral movements, lateral movements for obstacles, alignment issues in horses (leaning a certain way, difficult to flex the other), stretching and relaxation excercises for horses, better balance and more organization within gaits, preparing for carriage driving, harness fit, vehicle balance, saddle fit, bridle fit, bitting options, starting colts...whatever topic you would be willing to spend $400 on for 2 full days.
You could learn and I could earn what I need for the added expenses to get Gypsy's daughter out to honor her mother and pay for Kappy's extra food and care he's going to need to be all he can be.
A win-win for everyone.
